Room Service Reiki • Remote Reiki Relaxes, Refreshes & Restores • New Client Coupon

What Is Usui Reiki - Really?

I remain surprised that more people do not take advantage of one of the best “healing” options available. A twenty minute session can provide you a sense of well-being, relaxation, renewal, and peace of mind. Many people feel they are being restored to emotional balance.

The simple explanation is that your Provider connects you to the great store of Universal Life Energy. A Reiki practitioner connects first, and then directs the flow to your energy body or “Human Energy System”. Your body responds to that connection by requesting the kind of treatment it wants. You remain in charge of the session. I like this very much. This kind of treatment can only happen with your permission.

As your provider, I take notes, I might make subtle adjustment to the flow if needed, and I ensure you receive a 20 minute treatment. Sometimes a session can run long, so please allow for 30 minutes of Reiki. The best Reiki practitioners know how to “get out of the way” and let the client and Reiki “speak” to each other. This results in a safe experience. I don’t push or pull or force anything. You can stop at any time. You are in control of the flow.

I am offering a special sale for those who want to try Reiki with me for the first time. Please enter FIRST REIKI in the coupon code field at check out. You can save $10 on your first treatment, a 20% savings. I hope this will be the beginning of your very special relationship with “energy healing”. I hope it will be as useful for you as it has been for me. Tap here if you would like to book a session.

Sometimes people request healing for a particular problem. This is just fine. However, Reiki will respond to your energy body, your physical body as well as your psychic and emotional bodies. This treatment addresses all kinds of disturbances with the goal of restoring harmony.

The treatment unfolds over a three day period as the Healing Energy moves from the outer layers of your Human Energy System down into the physical body. I cannot guarantee that the problem listed will be resolved, but I welcome your notes!

The possibility for you to feel so much better is just a click away. I will need to know where you want me to send your Reiki. I also need you to be relaxed, or at least seated when the session begins. There is an online form to complete when you place your order, and you are welcome to call or email me at any time.

I wonder, do you think that if I call this treatment remote relaxation, or room service Reiki, that this new name might make it easier for people to accept? The idea that people can send healing to one another across distance seems a problem. Perhaps more people would be willing to try remote Usui Reiki if they could turn on a TV and get the treatment.

It is interesting that we accept the transmission of energy by machines such as Smart Phones, Streaming Devices, Microwaves, and Ultrasound technology. If the energy flows  from a mechanical source - well, that’s ok.  When human beings are the source of an energy transmission, especially in the West, it is much harder for people to accept.

Today, I am concerned that the practice of Usui Reiki has been diluted, and that many who are not properly trained are selling Reiki. I have heard some pretty cruel jokes making Reiki seem a silly fad that requires flowing gowns and lots of crystals. This is not at all true!  I have also heard people complain that they “didn’t really feel anything” after a Reiki treatment, or that they can really feel my Reiki. Usui Reiki is the same flow of healing energy it has always been. The transmission process has changed. The teaching methods may have changed, and I have heard that some people are getting full transmissions of all three levels in a weekend.

How I Began to Send Reiki

I had my attunement to Level One in 1990. At that time I was deathly ill and an attunement seemed the only way to help me. I promised that I would re-take the training for Usui Reiki level one when I recovered, and I did. Eventually I studied and trained and accomplished the Level Three or the Master Attunement. Last century, it took time to move from one level to the next.

Last century, Usui Reiki Masters did their best to hold the student to the tradition of study and practice for a year per level before allowing them to move on to the next. Some Masters would not offer the Master Level attunement unless the student was so committed to the practice of Reiki that they (the student) could assure the Master, that they (the student) were going to practice for the rest of their life. Not only that, there had to be an agreement that the new Master would teach and attune others.

In my case, to receive my attunement to the Master Level,  I had to offer a walk-in healing “clinic” for two hours every Thursday and I did that for many months. Anyone who wanted to experience Reiki, or who wanted a healing of any kind was welcome. There was a donation basket and for a few dollars, anyone could enjoy the benefits. I was also able to provide students a place to practice, to hone their skills, interact with other Reiki providers as well as those coming for healing. It was a wonderful time. (Sadly the State passed a law in the late 1990s that restricted the practice of Reiki to those who were licensed Massage Therapists and I had to close up shop.)

Students at my “Clinic” were receiving requests to treat people in Daytona and Deland although they lived in Jacksonville. The group agreed to try to send Reiki to these locations and accepted those interested on the condition that they would report back their experience. We were all really happy to learn that people had a great benefit from Remote or Distance Reiki. It was a beautiful time.

More About My Reiki Journey

Once only men were allowed to practice Usui Reiki, but as the legend goes, to save this healing method, Reiki, during the second World War, a woman was attuned and sent out of the country (Japan) so that this important healing method would not be wiped out. When I was attuned, I was actually one of the first rule breakers, and my Reiki Master made it clear that he was aware that he was breaking the tradition…. but he realized that many of the people who were most willing to study, practice and devote their time to healing did not have the $10,000.000 tuition that was an original requirement.

I saw my first miracle of Reiki healing in Memphis in 1988. An impossible healing took place three days after the third Reiki treatment. Doctors were amazed and so excited to know which physician had affected this cure! When I told them that an Episcopal priest from Greenville, Mississippi had treated the person with Reiki Energy, they could not get me out of their office fast enough!

The story of the discovery of Reiki is quite inspiring. It is an Asian discovery and the process of attunement, Master/Disciple relationship is not comfortable to the Western ear. Nonetheless, people have reported all kinds of benefits ranging from the miraculous to the joyful. I have been “sending” Usui Reiki treatments since the last 1990s. There are many books published now. Some are really helpful while some are just a rehash of the oral tradition. In the beginning the instruction was to keep the symbols secret. They were not to be published nor shared with anyone who was not attuned.

Today you can see the healing symbols all over the internet. Some people are offering attunements online. In the spiritual traditions I study and practice, an “in person” teaching and attunement is the standard. The Master makes changes to the energy body of the student during the attunement process. If you have a powerful (experienced Master) you will experience many feelings during that process. I encourage you to find a Reiki Master who offers in person attunements if you are interested in the study and  practice of this wonderful healing method.

Energy Healing, Clairvoyance & Henna Tattoo

As is the case with insightful questions from clients & customers, I receive their permission to post my answers to their questions on a blog. This most excellent letter came just the other day, and I chose to reply in this Energy Healing blog as the questions seem most easily answered in Energy Healing language.

It will answer the letter in a three party reply as each of the questions require specific answers. Please know that I share only my experience & observations. I certainly do not pretend to have all the answers for everyone, nor do I intend to address this reply to all healers nor all modalities.

I come from an Usui Reiki background in energy healing, and a Western Mystery tradition for the clairvoyant aspects of my work, thus I tend to err on the side of caution.
That said, here is the first question:

"I wanted to inquire about your abilities as a clairvoyant and how that may apply to your henna work. Being a henna artist as well, I obviously touch a lot of people's skin and sometimes I feel like I am being sent messages about the person that are intended for them, from spirit. I am not always sure that they will be open to hearing what I have to say and wondered what your advice on this would be."

My reply: When working with clients as a henna artist, I allow myself to be only that. I very much enjoy meeting people in a relaxed, neutral & welcoming situation where I am able to just be present to do art. If there is any clairvoyance in play, it seems to be only that henna forms a relationship with each customer, and designs often emerge that are "just what I wanted". I think all body artists hear this kind of comment, especially if they have taken a moment to really listen to their customer.

I honor that you sometimes feel that you are being sent messages about a person from spirit. I have learned that unasked for advice is often not welcome. At present, I only answer questions when asked. I also provide clairvoyant services in a sacred space, and by appointment. In this way clients are sure to be ready to receive answers to their questions, and I am certain that I have their permission to access their portion of the Akashic Record fort their greatest good.

In some cases, even with all the above boundaries in place, clients may still be anxious or even fearful about having a clairvoyant reading. While some people are very open, and welcome spiritual messages at any time and in any circumstance... others are not. I strongly prefer to do no harm.. so, if I do receive any information while providing a henna tattoo, I let that knowing just flow by. I do not attach importance to it, nor do I share it. Most of my henna clients know me as an artist, and a few as a mystic or healer, and expect that service from me.

The second aspect or second question:

" I also am becoming more recognized by myself and others as a bit of a healer and have often put the intention of healing into my work when doing henna. I figure it cannot harm them to send healing through the henna and being that it has been used for good luck and well being for milennia, it seems a good conduit for this. What are your thoughts or suggestions on this if any?"

My reply: As one of my greatest teachers one said: "Intention is everything." I intend to be of benefit to every henna customer, to offer them my full attention, appropriate touch, a beautiful design applied while they are comfortable. I intend that they feel welcome, and valuable. These seemingly simple intentions are often the most powerful of all healing gifts.

As my clients are coming for art, art is what they get. Should a customer ask for a power symbol, a healing design, or a healing experience during the henna process, I am happy to intend that their design be a healing or empowering symbol.

In fact, following the "Messages From Water" model, drawing kanji or other meaningful symbols over pulse points may become it's own healing process all together. So, I suppose the short answer is that I offer healing services when they are ordered, or requested. However, healers heal; good touch is good touch; and loving kindness shines through to bless everyone.

In the process of offering a donation based public Reiki Healing circle weekly over a period of two years, I have learned that not everyone who asks for healing really wants it. I have learned that what I might find a problem, or an area that requires healing may not be seen that way by the person coming to the circle.

The third part of the question:

"Is there any other practice I should be doing that will help me to tune into these abilities more and to be of greater service to my clients? What are the ethics behind such a practice? I appreciate any feedback that you have for me and look forward to your response." Much love and peace, Rosemary

My reply:I think Usui Reiki Energy Healing is the most excellent training to receive I wish everyone was Reiki. Usui Reiki heals the healer while healing the client. The ethics are simple, ancient, honorable and freeing. I have seen remarkable and complete healings occur with Usui Reiki.

One of the reasons this model is so pleasing to me is that it works best when I get out of the way and allow the natural Universal Life Energy to flow through me, to the client, to return that person to their own, true Energy Nature. It is good for people, plants, animals, environments.

Usui Reiki heals mentally, emotionally & spiritually in my experience. I encourage you to seek your training from a traditional Usui Reiki Master who has a Master. Although there are many "embellishments" to the original model, I am still happily practicing Reiki when asked.

I hope this post is helpful to you. Please know the tone of voice - so hard to convey in type for me - is warm, and happy. I thank you so much for writing & for allowing me to post your questions to a public forum.

Wishing you joy,

Ann George
