Energy Wounds: What are they? How do they happen? How can we treat them?

What Are Energy Wounds? 

An energy wound is any kind of damage to our Human Energy System (HES). We can identify energy wounds by their symptoms. Often conditions caused by energy wounds are dismissed as a passing phase, a temporary emotional state, nothing to worry about.  Here are a few energy wounds that are misunderstood:  A Broken Heart • A Loss of Direction or Purpose • Lethargy • Depression • Anger • Loneliness • Anxiety and Inability to Enjoy Life. 

Energy Wounds are a kind of hurt we just can’t seem to fix. We can’t walk, talk, or think our way to peace. We can’t seem to recover our energy, our joy, nor our sense of purpose. Sure, there are some life experiences that are very hard to shake but energy wounds seem "deeper". With this kind of pain we are hurting, and the hurting won’t stop, in spite or our best efforts to suppress or deny the pain. Wounds to our energy bodies are events we are not taught to identify much less to heal. 

Human beings are multilayered beings. We have an inner and an outer energy identity.  Common terms for parts of that self are chakra, aura, avaduti, meridian, channel, drop, wind, or etheric layer. We can be in excellent condition, or simply worn down by the day to day demands we now face in a very technologically “advanced” society.  Energy wounding can happen either way. 

If people are telling you to “Snap out of it”, or if they ask “Are you still grieving?”, or if they say “You have to get a hold of yourself”, then you are probably suffering from an energy wound. These wounds happen far more often than you might think. Sometimes the wounding is written off as “just a part of life”.  Sometimes the wound is self-inflicted and sometimes we have run into an abuser, an “energy vampire” who does mean to hurt us, and does mean to cause us to “leak” energy. Once we are “punctured” those abusers seems to enjoy “feeding” on our distress. 

Regardless of the cause of the wound, the one thing all energy wounds have in common is that they require energy medicine. Many of us have watched friends try to “Get Over It!” in self destructive ways. Common efforts to self-cure include drinking too much alcohol, smoking too much (anything), and eating too much food. All these efforts are relatively easy to do and for a short while they provide a sense of comfort.  We soon see the comfort is temporary. 

Many people will try to return to a comfortable state by repeating the ”fix”, until the fix becomes the problem. I will expand on this idea by presenting one view of the Human Energy System. (HES). The idea of the energy system isn’t mine, In fact there are many ancient views and many medicines based on each view. I am not a doctor. I am not presenting any information here that is to encourage you to walk out of the care you are receiving now to try Energy Healing. 

What is healed?

The view I use when talking about Energy Healing begins with the idea that we are “Luminous Eggs”. This is a useful analogy because it presents a person as having a “shell”.  I refer to this barrier as the Auric Shell. The contents I refer to as the Aura. These two parts make up my base reference for the Human Energy System.** 

Within the Auric Shell are the Chakras. These “Wheels of Light” affect/represent/are connected to organs in the physical body. These Wheels also affect our emotional, spiritual and mental well being. Throughout the day we are all “bombarded” to a greater or lesser degree depending on the demands of our work by negative energy. Sometimes that energy is simply disruptive to our natural condition. For this reason, all of us are somewhat out of balance at days end. There is nothing wrong with some disarray. 

If we have good physical health, good sleep, good nutrition we most likely are restored to prime function by morning. If we are under stress, in very industrial settings, or are physically run down for what ever reason, we may not wake restored and are more vulnerable not only to colds or flus, but also to energy wounds inflicted during the next 24 hours. I will use the example of a sudden break up to illustrate the ideas of energy 

wounding and repair. 

Let’s say that you think you in a love relationship and that relationship is honest and solid, and that both partners are enjoying a “settled” and happy life. Then, one day, your partner announces that he/she is leaving the relationship…. that they have been seeing someone else, have fallen in love with someone else and they are finished with you. You are invited to please collect your belongings and move out or move on.

This can feel like a punch in the heart, or like a terrible stabbing pain in the back. These words can cause a very deep pain, although no blow is struck. This is an emotional pain of course, but then we begin to question ourselves, the mental pain begins. We try to figure it out, what went wrong? why didn’t I see this coming? We ask ourselves all kinds of questions that only hurt us more deeply as we can’t find the answers.

Most people are very hurt by this kind of loss. Each of us will display the pain differently and cope differently. I want to talk about the things that are the same for all of us in the short term, and the long term.

How could this wound affect me? 

In the short term the words “It’s over, I am leaving” are so sharp that they pierce the Auric Shell and go straight into the Aura, and then straight to the Heart Chakra. First the protective Auric Shell is broken and following that piercing, all manner of other wounds can penetrate and do greater damage to that first wound if it is left untreated. 

Vital life energy we need to function can “leak out” from that piercing. The size of the “blow” will vary from person to person but the principle of leaking will apply to all. When the wound (let’s visualize an arrow) reaches the Heart Chakra, it will throw that wheel out of balance, off its center, and will cause it to wobble (at the least). This one wheel off center will affect all the other chakras to some extent and an imbalance begins. If a person is already a little off balance (as most of us are naturally) the wound may have a greater impact. 

Because all the Chakras are connected by the Avaduti (Central Channel) the disruption in the Heart Chakra can flow up, down or out into the HES. If there is no energy healing offered to the Heart Chakra, then the HES will also go off balance, and who knows what will follow? The Auric Shell might self repair, but the pain in the Aura is still “in” there, and the wounding to the Heart Chakra is also there. The regular, everyday person still has to put their life back together, start over, field all kinds of questions, get up and go to work… with this brutal energy wound…. as well as a broken heart. 

As people “pull themselves together” and “get over it” from an everyday perspective, they are still “leaking”. I have previously published my “blood in the water” theory of the risks of allowing this kind of wound in particular to go untreated.  In fact I posted the “leaking” perspective  back in 2006 to this very blog. To restate, if you allow an “energy wound” to go untreated, you may very well keep attracting lovers who have this same inability to commit. Or this same style of breaking your heart.  You may find that you are attracting unfaithful lovers…. not because you don’t deserve love, not because you can’t find a good partner, but because you are still leaking the damage from that earlier betrayal into your environment. Those people who “feed” on that relationship style will find you just as the Great White comes to see what is for dinner when there is blood in the water.

What can I do? 

There are other modalities to help get pain “out” of your body.  Some people prefer massage, some prefer acupuncture, and others choose an intensive steam to help release trapped emotion. Which ever method you choose, if you are stuck, please consider trying Usui Reiki. I encourage you to ask your friends who they recommend. As in all healing  practices, not every provider will be the best for you. Please try to choose someone with experience, perhaps a “published” healer. Look for someone who is interested in your well-being.

Space Clearing & House Blessing Services

I receive inquiries from people asking me to come to their location to perform a clearing of negative energies from their homes or offices. I have been providing this service for over 25 years. 

Maintaining an energetically calm, clear and sacred personal space at home and at work has so many benefits I encourage everyone to do some form of clearly weekly.  This can easily be included in your daily life by offering an incense to restore the peace full frequency of your home.

I have been making moon poured candles as well as  my own hand blended incense to help you maintain sacred space and in some cases improve the frequency to achieve certain goals.  (I provide complete instructions with my products). There are many fine shops in my city and of course you may shop online to purchase esoteric products to clear your space. 

Smudging with sage, cedar, sweet grass or Palo Santo or any other combination of cleansing herbs is easy to do. There are times when the energy of your home or office can be disturbed, many are just natural causes for an imbalance in the energy of your space. A few obvious examples are:

• a visit from unpleasant people
• physical illness
• the loss of a pet
• construction
• an accident or act of violence in your neighborhood. 

Please trust your intuition when you feel the need to clear your space with a nice herbal smudge. It is also lovely to make candle offerings to refresh with fire light.  (I encourage you to choose natural wax candles whenever possible.)

There are times when there are great disruptions in homes. I have posted a few articles about these kinds of disruptions (spells, ghosts and spirits can cause them) on another blog. You may find similar articles on this blog as well. 

There are all kinds of forces in the natural world we can easily identify as dangerous. Hurricanes, tornadoes, drought, and tsunami are some of the most extreme disturbances. 

There are disturbances in the energy worlds as well. Often these disturbances are unseen, however, we can feel them! Sometimes there may even be a disturbance that is named a haunting as the disruptive force seems so focused and personal. 

Sometimes a beings energy can be trapped and stagnant in a place, and that too can cause disruption. 

If you feel that the frequency of your home requires professional help, I am happy to assist. (Please note that in many religions priests will come perform a house blessing ceremony in the context of your faith. This is a very wise choice.)

Although I have gone in person in the past, I now strongly prefer to offer Remote Clearings using Usui Reiki to purify and restore any location. Usui Reiki is a pure Life Energy. It works well to cleanse. balance and return  an environment to a natural healthy condition. 

Because it is possible to send Reiki to your location (home or office building) at a time when no one is there, this is one of the safest ways to purify a space! 

What ever beings or energies have occupied your space can be cleared, healed, restored to their own unique frequency and move on and away. Any residual energy those entities have left behind may be cleared as well. 

One of the greatest benefits of the remote healing process is that no harm can come to the people or pets that live in that home as they are away! For an office, healing is sent when the building is closed and empty. 

When you return to your home, you should notice that the energy is different. Over the next three days the full effect of the Reiki will manifest and you should enjoy relief from what ever energy was disruptive. 

I am in favor of the Distance Healing for my benefit as well. Although I have been practicing Reiki for over almost 30 years, and have been doing energy work for 20, from time to time I do encounter powerful and dangerous energies when doing a clearing. 

There was one remarkable incident that where I was clearing a home while the owner and pets were present. This negative energy had taken a strong position in the home and did not want to leave. It was “attached” to the person and this attachment made the energy all the more difficult to remove. 

As the energy was leaving, it suddenly turned and “punched” me in the solar plexus so hard I had to sit down. Yes, I was surprised! This was the most power “physical” assault I had ever experienced while doing a clearing. No one else was hurt.  

Other advantages of choosing a Remote Reiki clearing is that 

• they are easy to schedule
• they take far less time than a walk through clearing
• they are very thorough 
• the are most affordable. 

I am sure you can find other articles on house blessing on line. There are many ethical Reiki Masters who offer this service.  Please know that a professional healer will charge a flat fee for the service offered. 

Sometimes a second clearing may feel necessary to you and an ethical provider may agree, but encourage you to allow your home to “settle”. As well, if you start to practice your own clearing the day after the Reiki session, this will help maintain the clearing and help you feel empowered to manage and protect your space. 

Some people live in high stress environments. They may be care giving for an elder, a person with emotional troubles, or someone with a physical illness. All these stressors can become “trapped” in the  home. 

Last century people would open the windows and “air out” the house regularly. This allowed the  clear energy of the Earth to flow into the home and was very beneficial. In our century, depending on your location, fresh air may seem hard to come by. “Airing out” is also a good way to refresh your space when possible.

Reiki Healing for Animals

I am now offering Usui Reiki distance energy healing treatments for animals by appointment.  I thought to offer this healing a few years ago, but lacked practice and experience. I now feel I have the experience to make Reiki available for pets and other animal friends. 

I have just completed my third successful energy healing for an animal, my own little dog, who suffered a "central nervous system event" according to the vet. The symptoms seemed stroke-like to me.

The first symptom was that the dog walked in quick and tight circles from time to time one afternoon, as if he was chasing his tail. The next morning, the dog was unable to move, had breathing difficulty, seemed "frozen" and near death. 

As I had never seen anything like this before and wanted to be sure the dog had not been poisoned, a trip to the vet and some antibiotics was my first action.  For three days I just held the little dog, offering 5 minute sessions of Reiki off and on through out the day. This healing was calming, and the panic left his eyes, his breathing returned to a more normal rate ( it had been very heavy and very fast ) and the muscles in his body relaxed somewhat. 

I went for a second opinion on his health three days later - on a Monday - and the veterinarians' suggestion was that as the dog was unlikely to have any quality of life that it might be wise to euthanize him at that visit. I was surprised by the comment, and instead opted for the addition of prednisone to his medication regimen. 

At the beginning of the CNSE, my little "Yorkipoo mix" could not raise his head at all. He required syringe feeding for water. He required soft canned foods and spoon feeding. This took time as the paralysis affected his jaw and he could not open his mouth. So, carefully, carefully, he had to lick the food from the spoon as best he could.

The dog could not move at all for almost a week and had lost control of his bodily functions. Needless to say, I bought a good many lap pads.

I decided to provide little Momo the best end of life care possible, and  I continued to treat him with Usui Reiki. Now, as this was a bizarre event, I did not offer very long Reiki sessions, but a series of short treatments through out the day. 

As I am very lucky to be blessed with friends in Reiki, Momo also received distant energy treatments from some very loving healers in town. As I write this,  some five weeks post event, he is happily wandering the house.  He has regained control of his body. He can drink from a bowl, eat from a bowl, is once again house broken, and has regained his bark.

At present the symptom we are working on is his wandering. He seems to enjoy exploring the house, however, I know this pacing to be a lingering symptom of the event. At present his central nervous system still seems to cause him to be in motion. As well, he is not yet able to always come in a straight path when called, but must come in a series of  arc and circles, although very happy to arrive for pets!

He is however able to find his crate and pause for a rest and a nap as need be. He has regained some spirit or personality and all in all, the consensus of friends and family is that the dog has had a "miraculous" recovery.

The second animal in my care that was healed with Usui Reiki was an elderly Siamese cat who had become very aggressive. In fact, he too was to be euthanized as his violent attacks on his care givers were frequent. The cat would bite the human arm, hold on, and then just shred the flesh with his claws. 

Having seen the result of this attack, it was clear this animal was emotionally quite disturbed and a danger to others - both human and feline. As his primary care giver (away from the home and unable to return to care for the cat due to work restrictions) learned of the impending death of his pet he asked me to take the cat and try to care for it as best I could.

I thought I might be a bit crazy for taking on this project, however, it was the right thing to do and at the time I had room for one more.  I will save the story of the healing of "Chi Baby", a lovely, lilac point Siamese cat for another post. The outcome is successful, and very lovely.

Anxiety, Self-Doubt, and Fear. Distance Reiki treatments can restore balance.

Since the end of May, I have received many calls from clients who are experiencing an unnatural increase in anxiety, fears about the future, and doubts about their own ability to succeed. These are all bright, successful people who have a history of material, emotional and spiritual success.

What seems to be happening is that they are "off center", and not without reason. The mainstream media in particular, which must report the news as it sees fit, presents a picture of our world and our planet that is most unsettling. During this time of global economic transition, many people are rightly fearful, and my post is not intended to dismiss the concerns anyone is having about their emotional or financial welfare at this time.

I do intend information for new clients who are wondering if Usui Reiki will benefit them, help them to feel more balanced, confident and emotionally secure. Energetically, one of the symptoms of stress and anxiety is an overactivity in the third eye chakra, while the crown chakra may be closed or restricted. Sometimes the throat chakra is also restricted.. meaning that the "size" or the "stregnth" of the energy moving in that wheel is less than other energy centers in the central column. This occurs because our "minds run away with us", causing us to become mentally transfixed by our worries an concerns.

Media, the financial troubles of friends and family, announcements about war, budget deficits are disturbing, and of course give "just cause" for more thinking about troubles. As well, some people are actually turning the stress inwards, blaming themselves for not being better protected, for not making better decisions, for a long list of actions not taken to ensure quality of life.

The metaphysical, and energetic constant is change. Everything, including our energy bodies, functions best in a balanced flux, a give and take if you will. However, worry can cut it's own groove in the energy record we play each day.. and over time, worry, no matter how well founded, corrupts the natural movement of energy through the chakras.

Usui Reiki is an energy modality that seeks to restore a natural balance to the human energy field. Natural in that the balance is your own rhythm.. the heart beat that is natural for you. In so doing, restricted chakras are loosed, wide open chakras are calmed, and the energy body gradually comes to rest in a condition of equipose.

It would be lovely if one could "think" one's way out of stress and anxiety, but troubles of the mind are often best addressed by healing the body, either through Reiki, massage or acupuncture. All these methods bypass the mind to create harmony in the body, thus making the body a more comfortable resting place for the mind.

Remote or distance Reiki healing is particularly helpful to combat stress, tension and anxiety because the treatment only requires that you relax, reclining comfortably at home, and allow the practitioner to send the healing energy to you. You don't have to drive, meet someone new, get dressed.. take time from your day... just choose an evening when you will have about 20 uninterrupted minutes to receive your energy healing.
